Hex nuts are sold in increments of 1000 pieces.
Nut, Hex
Hex Nuts are available in sizes ranging from: 1/4″-20 to 3/4″-10, and finished in Zinc plating, Yellow Zinc plating, Stainless Steel, Type 316 Stainless, Hot-Dipped Galvanized and Treated Lumber Coating. Hex nuts are sized by the fastener they fit. For example, a 1/4 inch nut fits a 1/4 inch bolt. Thread density must also match.
Type 316 Stainless is Marine Grade quality.
Treated Lumber Coating is a 1000+ hour coating approved for outdoor use with ACQ treated lumber.
Core Purpose
Hex nuts are versatile, six‑sided fasteners designed to screw onto bolts or screws to clamp parts together, making them ideal for securing assemblies in construction, machinery, automotive, and many other applications. A hex nut’s main job is to create a secure, load‑bearing joint by engaging its internal threads with a bolt, screw, or stud. When tightened, it stretches the bolt slightly, generating preload that presses the joined parts together.
Why the Hex Shape?
The six‑sided design is an engineering compromise:
- Easy to grip with a wrench or socket — you only need a 60° turn to re‑engage the tool.
- Strong enough to handle high torque without cracking.
- Accessible in tight spaces compared to square or other shapes.
